The village nestles between the sea and the Tramuntana mountains, whose highest peak, the Teix, rises behind La Residencia. Range with a population of 600 inhabitants but which has become one of the most cosmopolitan villages in the Balearic Islands. Every season is magical in this idyllic spot. In summer, you can take a boat, go fishing, swimming or simply soak up the sun down by the coast. In the cooler months, the mountains and hills offer limitless opportunities for walking or climbing. Ask at the hotel reception desk for information on local walks, which can also be organised with a guide.
Deià is an out-of-the-way spot, reached by narrow winding roads. In summer time, many tourists come to visit Deià for its preserved authentic character. Robert Graves was among the first of a long succession of artists, writers and poets who found inspiration in the magnificent setting, and there is now a well-established artist community which gives the village a special atmosphere. Graves is buried in the cemetery beside the church on the hilltop.
We trust you will come to love this village as much as its permanent residents do. We especially hope that you will enjoy your stay at La Residencia.
